This was a really good chapter to me because you learn the truth about Gatsby. Gatsby really gets his fortune from bootlegging things. After college which he didnt finish he became a janitor. then started working at a yatch club which he meet a very wealthy man named Dan Cody. Cody took Gatsby under his wing and even gave him the name Jay Gatsby. When Gatsby was with cody he was his personal assistant and knowing that Cody was a heavy drinker that showed Gatsby what drinking could do to you thats why Gatsby doesnt drink. When Cody died he left $25,000 to Gatsby but Cody'd mistresss made sure that Gatsby wouldnt be able to get the money.( I still dont really know if he got the money) But after Cody's death Gatsby made sure that he, himself would become rich because he loved the life. Nick didint really visit Gatsby or see Daisy for a while after their meet together, but when he did go over there ho found that Tom was over there and Tom knew something was up between Gatsby and Daisy. Daisy and Tom went to gatsby next party but neither had a good time. And Gatsby was disturbed when he found out that Diasy didnt have a good time at the party.

in the beginning, i was wondering why was the reporter trying to interview Gatsby so bad. she was trying to get the truth out of him basically.i learned that his original name is "James Gatz-that was really, or at least legally, his name."is Gatsby really a Godly man?"he was a son of God-a phrase which, if it means anything, means just that."gatsby has been lying to nick as well. he has not been wealthy his whole life. i can not believe he was a janitor. "it was indirectly due to Cody that Gatsby drank so little." in this chapter i felt that Gatsby is a fake. i believe Gatsby is trying to make Daisy into a little girl. "a massive and lethargic...Miss Baedeker's defense."i think Daisy and tom love is dying. does Daisy love tom? Gatsby and Daisy are secret lovers.

From my understanding, we were definitely right about Gatsby being a bootlegger. I think it is amazing that we can infer so much just by reading context clues. I wonder whether or not Tom is going to hear or see something that lets him know that Gatsby and Daisy definitely have something going on. I am surprised that Nick has not gotten mad about the fact that Gatsby has been lying to him since the beginning especially about his name and childhood.

this chapter dives deep into Jay Gatsby or James Gatz past it told about how he... dropped out of college to becoming the "Successful Entrepreneur" that he is which relates back to the american dream...but it also was funny how Tom felt stupid after gatsby said he knows his wife "I wonder were in the devil did he met Daisy. By God,...."
and how Tom became the polo player at the party he really is a sucker.but gatsby needs some dr phil because his relationship with Daisy is over dramatic...get over it it was five years ago..."I never loved you" that is so pitiful

In the beginning of the chapter I got a litle confused, because I couldn't believe that the solutiom came so early... then I think Nick said it wasn't truth about Gatsby... so was it or was it not?
The facts are really interesting. like how Gatsby started his business...
The paradox is that Tom first didn't want Gatsby to come to this young lady's party, saying that Gatsby "won't know a soul there"(p. 103), but then, at Gatsby's party didn't know nobody himself.
At Gatsby's party Daisy got excited by everything she saw, but still as Gatsby correctly noticed "She didn't like it." "She didn't have a good time."(p. 109)
Meanwhile Tom was chatting with strangers, he forgot about Daisy, so she could spend some time with Gatsby.
Gatsby wants everything to be like 5 years ago. "He wanted nothing less of Daisy than that she should go to tom and say: "I never loved you."" (p. 109). He knows for sure that it IS possible to repeat the past and he is going "to fix everything just the way it was before." (p. 110) That scare me because it shows that Gastby is going to do ANYTHING to get Daisy back!
The last 3 paragraphs describe the evening when Gatsby and Daisy kissed for the first time. Although Gatsby knew that after kissing Daisy he is going to be crazy about her, he still did it, that means that he is not afraid to take risks and knows that he can handle any situation!

the parts that stood out to me were, when tom showed up to one of gatsby's parties out of pure jelousy. and during this daisy has a horrible time and we can see this in her sarcasm on pg 104" im looking around, i having a marvoulous-" so she leaves with gatsby and asks nick to be the watchman for them while they sit together. gatsby asks nick to stay after for a while and we see that gatsby has high expectations and that he is nervous and worried that they might not be met.

In chapter 6 gatsby is going to get interviewed by this young reporter, I guess everuyone wants to know how he gets so much.pg97 then u find out what's his real name I think. Is his name james gatz or jay gatsby? At the party u could see that gatsby had a small thing for daisy when they was dancin. Then he finded out that she didn't really like the party and really didn't want to be there. But in this chapter you can really say that hes a bootlegger.

Wow...I feel the drama coming. Chapter six was very interesting chapter. In chapter six we learn about the real Gatsby, where he came from, and how he became so wealthy. It was finally revealed that he was a bootlegger. I knew it!!
Gatsby worked on a yacht for a man named Cody. Once Cody died..Gatsby fed off his money and became rich.
Tom is back!
Tom doesn't like Gatsby..he's very suspicious of him. I think its obvious that Daisy and Gatsby have something going on. What will Tom do??
This book is gettin really good.

well, finnaly some truth comes out. in this chapter I saw that Gatsby isn't really as great as everyone claims him to be. He gets his money illegally and it's also a reflection of how much he cares for Daisy. If it wasn't for her being rich and dating rich men, he would have no need. It shows how much influence Daisy has over Gatsby and how far he is willing to go for her. This could foretell some sort of disaster. Too much love for someone is never good, especially if the person inst getting the same in return.
His parties are an example of his love. He throws lavish parties, but he only throws them so that she will notice and to make her fall in love. Ignorance is present here also. Parties dont make people fall in love.

I found it suprising tha Gatsby and Daisy went so far as to actualy kiss each other right under Toms nose at the party. And what happend with Gatsbys mentor was realy messed up. That goldigger more than likely killed him but she still took almost all his money.

I KNEW IT I KNEW IT!!! Gatsby was a bootlegger. In this chapter we learned about Gatsby's life coming up..from rags to riches. Jay Gatsby worked for a man named Dan Cody. I agree with Andrew. I feel as if his illegal business is a reflection of his love for Daisy. Gatsby thought that his money could buy him love. At Gatsby's party, Tom watches and observes. He becomes suspicious about Daisy and Gatsby, so he decided to tell Daisy that Gatsby was a bootlegger to upset her. At the end of the night, Gatsby was kinda sad only because Daisy was upset. He really love this girl!!
